Habitat - Indoor :: Repti Glo 10.0

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I've heard people have had issues with these bulbs, irritating reptiles eyes etc etc.

Is that only with the 27W one? I just got a 10.0 13W one for my birthday - I can take it back when they get new stock in...but if the 13W one will be okay i'll just keep it.

Anyone know?

It's too much UVB. Over 5.0 is like radiation for a res. 10.0 is for desert animals.

You can use it, perhaps keep it further away from your turtle?

In my opinion, given the number of RES who have had issues with the 10.0, and how quickly the UVB dissipates if placed too far away... I'd return the bulb for the 5.0.
I use the 5.0 with both of my RES and it works wonderfully. I haven't had any eye issues with it.

I don't know about a 10.0 bulb but I have a 15W Repti Glo 8.0 and my RES does not have swollen eyes. He's been on the 8.0 bulb since I got him a few months ago.
