Dont hotdogs have nitrates in them? Beyond the protein would they be harmful? Curious mainly. Hope the little one begins eating. Mine didnt eat for about three to four days after we brought him(?) home. It took a while for him to get used to the new setting. I offered him crickets just to get him eating and then a combo of crickets/pellets. No only pellets, lettuce and cuttlebone. He could just be stressed. Mine is currently in a 10 gal tank as well. I have to clean it frequently (I have a tetra in tank filter only) but it i working for now. Tuck is calm - until the kids come home from school!

You can use a 10 gal. tank with a small basking area while you figure things out......anything is better than those "Death Bowls" they are sold with. Then get a small water heater, a cheap filter, a clamp lamp with a 60 watt bulb.
