Habitat - Indoor :: Basking log location

I have Izzy the large ZooMed basking ramp, but I have a question about placing it kind of in the middle of the tank.

She is in a 55 gallon and I have a 100watt MVB. I do need to get some more tubing to have the intake/output at complete opposite ends of the tank, right now the intake is pretty far to one side, but the output isn't.

I don't know if it would be better to keep her dock to the side and leave just enough room for the output to fit between her dock and the tank or just move her dock to the middle of the tank.

I have seen a few set-ups where it is in the middle, but I dunno.

It really doesn't matter. Do what's more convenient for you.

i would think it's just preference or convenience. mine is in the middle...it's been fine.

Mine was always in the middle until recently. When it's in the middle of the tank your turtle has less chance of crashing into the tank wall when quickly sliding into the water.

I don't think it matters either, but mine is over to the side, the way you described, just far enough from the side to allow room for the for the intake.
I haven't had any problems either.

How big is Izzy? She may be too big for the large dock and you might want to look into making a basking area yourself.

My basking area is all the way to the left on my tank, the filter intake is way on the right, and the output is right in front of my basking area, since I couldn't fit it comfortable on the other side.

She is only 4" right now and we just got her the bigger one last month as the other one was definitely too small. I mean, she has room to turn completely around and all that. Make sense?

I definitely do want to make a basking area above the tank.

See, her her output is right in front of the basking area, not close enough that she hits it when she gets down, but I would like for it to be out of the way.
