Habitat - Indoor :: Wood basking area

Since my Zoomed dock is pretty much eaten I was think of making a dock. Would it be ok part of it is wood?

i'm currently making basking area out of wood, but I was told that the ramp should not be wood because it would get moldy, and chemicals would go into the water. I think it's a good idea to make it out of wood because wood soaks up heat so by the time your turtle goes and basks it would be all nice and warm.

It's fine if you make the top area out of wood, but I would avoid wood in the water. It'll warp, go mouldy, and if it's treated it can leach nasty chems into the water.

Also, be aware that if the bottom bit is wood, it may eventually warp from all the moisture.

You can however use corkbark for a ramp. Just be sure to soak it overnight or longer before you put it in your tank.

i used a turtle dock as a ramp to my ATT basking area.

I think I'll start in the water as Plexiglass then as it works farther up Ill use wood.

Have you thought about aquarium carpet/ liner? Or something similar?

I would highly recommend against using wood. It rots too fast and goes moldy easily.
