What wattage is required for a res i currently have a 40W incandescent light bulb is that enough heat?

probably about a 60 or 75. do you have a thermometer on your basking area?

depends. you want the basking area to be 90-95F, if a 40watt is doing that for you then no need to change. I use a 60 watt to acheive that temp.

It'll be trial and error until you find the right wattage, but at least the bulbs are dirt cheap.

All I need is a 50W flood bulb. Spot bulbs will give you more concentrated heat, and the regular incandescents should give you the least "directional" heat.

The wattage you end up needing will depend on the distance from the bulb to the basking area and your ambient air temperature.

We use between a 40 and 60 watt bulb.

I've got a 60 watt and it heats pretty good.
