I doubt I'd go bald but I'd probably have those momets where I look in a mirror wonder what in the heck did I just get myself into lolFuzzy Hamster wrote:MBW, just remember these (temp. ranges) are guidelines, not absolutes. Your turtle will not suffer if the temp is 83 degrees or 81 degrees instead of 82 as long as it stays relatively constant. The odd change, like when you perform a water change, will not harm your turtle. He/she may in fact enjoy the 'splash' of cool water occasionaly.
Everyone has their own personal preferences that work just fine for their turtles. For example, even though the adult temp range is 74-78F, I will likely never allow the temp in our tank to go below 78 degrees F, but that is because we will also have fish (pleco, feeders) in our turtle tank and I prefer (from my fish experience) to keep all my tanks at 78 degrees F.
Thats just my comfort zone and it will work for the fish and turtle as well.
Try to enjoy the set-up process & don't obsess too much over the details, or you will end up like me - balding! The fact that you are trying very hard to do the right thing for your turtle is great & will result in him/her having a great place to live and being very happy.
