Habitat - Indoor :: stella just won't bask anymore!!

so i got my little hatchling stella a water heater because it was getting too cold at night...but now just won't bask!

she just swims around all day.

so what should i do? i already put the water down to 76 degrees and she still won't bask!

i've tried a 60 watt basking bulb, she basked even less, now i'm back up to a 100 watt.

i'd hate to go any colder for a hatchling, but should i just drop the temp down to 74 and maybe turn it up to 75/76 at night?

whats the basking temp right now? may just not be enough difference for her.

I know squirt likes a basking temp of mid 90's.

My babies hardly ever bask and they will ONLY bask if it is really warm on her basking area. If the basking temp isn't at least 95 then you should make it around 95 and go from there.

the basking area is about 91 degrees with the 100 watt.

and the water temp is 78 degrees now that the 100 watt has been in for awhile.

well i've hidden little pieces of treats in the crevices of the turtle dock and she's on there right now trying to find them, lol. so maybe she'll get re-aquainted with it lol.

she just swims back and forth at the front of the tank begging.

should i move the dock to the front of the tank? maybe she'll beg from ontop of her turtle dock? lol

yet for some reason my other turtle cosmo is the opposite. he hates it hot!

his water temp is 80 degrees and his basking is also 80, yet he basks all day!

i guess to each turtle his own!

i just haven't found stella's perfect combo yet.

holy crap, i just put my thermometer in the basking area and it's over 100 degrees!!

i can't move the light back and further..do you think this is too warm?

It's too warm for hatchlings. Perhaps you can use it for a bit, let them get hooked on this basking stuff and switch to the 60 watt later.

As others have said try a lower wattage bulb, I'm not gonna try to offer any advice because I'm new to this myself but my basking temp is usually around 91 - 93 sometimes a tad higher (guess it has to do with overall room temp) but my lil guy seems to love it. As for my water thats always maintained at a constant 80.?? degrees.
