Any ideas? I need to have a good idea of what i'm talking about before approaching my dad... So i need the basics like what to make it out of.

It depends on what you want. There are a number of ATBA architects here, I'm sure they'll give you pointers if you have a specific one in mind.

are you making an ATBA for all four of your turtles? old they are & which of them are male or female, you'll need a MUCH bigger tank for all four of them since they'll eventually grow. so depending on their size & how much you want to spend on a big enough tank for all of them, then can you decide on what type of ATBA you want. most of the time, the size of an ATBA depends on the size of the tank.

i'm also trying to build an ATBA myself. hopefully i'll get to build it asap

Well I want to get another tank and split 2 and 2. So I want to build 2 if at all possible. We'll see how it goes. I have a pretty handy father so with some basics I could have one quite quick.

it's probably best to get the biggest tank you can afford since your turtles will eventually grow bigger. since you want another tank, make an L-shaped tank/habitat. i've seen it done in 1 of the posts here in the forum, but i don't remember where. if your tanks are the same height, or you can elevate 1 tank to the same height, you can make an L-shaped tank & put the ATBA in the corner where the 2 tanks connect. this way your turtles can swim in both different tanks & you can make 1 big ATBA for them.
