you can buy it at Home Depot. that's where i got mine. they're called Light diffusers (egg crate). mine was about 4 feet long & 2 feet wide for $10.

I covered my 10 gallon,my 29 gallon,and half my 55 gallon

im in the UK and i bought some off ebay, it was called filter grid

At Home Depot, they didnt understand the name, though in the lighting section I found it for 10$, same as above

question about eggcrate well i plan on covering one side of a 55 gallon tank with it my question is how strong is it in weight like how many pounds will it hold reason being i have 4 cats and im afraid if one jumped on it it might snap so im looking for a few idea most likely im going to go with scripta_elegans

if i dont go with eggcrate ill just cut plexiglass to fit with notches for the heater plug, filter, and air lines for Leo since he loves his bubbles

any advice id appreciate

egg crate is strong, but if you had almost all 4 cats on top of that thing, then i think you'd be better off with the plexiglass.

I doubt it would hold back one medium sized cat

yeah im gonna wind up going with plexiglass just to be on the safe side hopefully ill have the tank and stand some time this week then to purchase the the rest of the tank

Im glad you asked about cats getting on top of the egg crate, cause I have 4 cats too and sometimes I will find one of them ontop of BammBamm's aquarium usually its Charisma. I would like to switch to eggcrate just need to figure out a way to block my cats from getting on it, maybe use plywood to block them.

I bought a galv. steel mesh top with my tank to prevent feline intrusions. Not sure egg crate would support much weight, though wanted to say that you have a fantastic setup. I went with the wuilt in ramp and platform from glasscages.com, and it has cost me about 1/3 of my 180g vollume.

Try some polycarbonate instead of plexiglass. Can get them at home depot and what not, still cheap, though a little more expensive, but it is like 40x stronger and less likely to crack and break than plexiglass
