okay so im getting a turtle sometime this weekend because my cousin doesn't want his anymore so he is giving me the filter, the water heater (idk if i need that), the tank and the turtle the things i need are the dock and decor.

He has been housed ina 20 gal long adn he is about 5 inches long i know he need a bigger tank but im tight in budget so if you tell me i need a bigger tank asap then i will never return here :) so he had rocks stacked up in one of the corners of the tank but i am going to make a dock in a 20 long that i had leftover from one of my lizards i bleached it out i also had some plaxiglass so i will put it near the top for an above water basking spot im not sure for the ramp though so i will need some ideas on that.

so if you have any help that would be very helpful :D

Sincerely,

Well you could get a rubbermaid bin for a larger tank. They are only about $10 for a 50gal.

Yes you need a water heater. Have you read through the main site? There's a ton of info. www.redearslider.com

opk si i made the little dock in one end of the tank using plexiglass i glued it to the tank with some aquarium sealant. i made a ramp with some more plexiglass but for traction i used some of that mat slide stoppers. if i can get some pictures i will post them. my turtle will still be getting here this weekend.

sincerely,

Rubbermade and craigslist.org are your best friends when looking for a tank. I got a 60 gal for 40 bucks. And there are lots of deals out there, so when you save up some cash you might want to look there. Also rubbermades are nice they are cheap and work well. However you can not see your new friend .

Also try reading all over the main site, it can answer most of the qestions that you have. As well as the people here.

Welcome to the site.
