i heard of making an aquarium out of plexiglass but i dont know how. i dont even know how to cut it and what not. please help. me

If you have no experience working with acrylic don't try to build a tank. It will be an expensive mistake. You need special tools and sealant, and the edges need to be perfectly even with each other..

You're much better off buying a tank.

chrisbarnett, you are very right, glass is heavily that plexyglass, but turtle love to scrath plexyglass and make the plexyglass worst (sorry bad english and bad spelling)

Let say I want to build a tank, how thick is the glass should be? For sure I will not make it by my own, I will ask the people who make the tank to build it. But the people ask me back, how thick the glass dat I want. I have the measurement for 50gallon tank dat I want but I dunno about the size of glass.

Is it just standard size? or should I use the thick one to hold the water?
Emm... I tot pieces of glass to build an aquarium/tank got same standard size.. now I'm so confuse.. haiyaa...

Please help. any idea, opinion. thank you.

i would just try googleing it. or go to monsterfishkeepers.com. click on forums at the top and then go to the diy section. They build tanks all the time on that site. Some build elaborate tanks that are hundreds of gallons and some that are even thousands of gallons. goodluck

Hi Azfar, there are specific measurements for glass type and thickness when it comes to aquariums. For my 125 gallon tank, the glass is 3/8" thick.

I would not go under 3/8 for any tank. Also isn't aquarium glass tempered?

hoho.. its gonna cost me about RM800 for 50G tank.. humm
