what wood can you use for a basking dock im thinking about redoing mine and i have a bunch of floor wood on the side of my house. also what kind of glue can i use. silicpon. gorilla glue

A big piece of cork bark makes an excellent basking spot.
If the wood isn't in the water, i would think you can use any wood.I personally prefer using plexiglass to build basking ramps and areas then glue smooth rocks to it.
For the glue make sure you use "aquarium safe" silicone....Home depot carries it.

crappppp ive used 100% silicon at hone depot was that the right kind. shoukld i take it out immediATELY. IF I USE WOOD IT MIOGHT TOUCH THE WATER A LITTLE. I COULD BOIL THE WOOD

100 % silicone doesn't mean it's aquarium safe...
Read the label and it should say in the "warning" area "not to be used for aquariums".If it doesn't say then it should be ok.
The only difference is an anti-mold chemical they put in it for the non safe one.
But next time buy the 100% that clearly says "AQUARIUMS" on it.The one i get from Home Depot is the "DAT' brand.

As long as the wood isn't treated it should be ok....But it will get all moldy and nasty looking.

well the wood isnt treated. the sillicone said i could use it for aquariums. also the wood will barely be in the water and i will clean it frequently

I dont think i can use the wood becasue it might have chemicals in it already. welll crap i have glass with rocks over it right now. i red the silicon and it said its ok for use above the water line. a little of the sillicone has been in the water line for a few days. It doesnt seem to affect him. should i take out the basking area immediately
