Habitat - Indoor :: Tank stand is done waiting on glass to build the new tank

So I have finally decided to build the big tank for my turtle. I had a buddy build the stand. It is finally done. It is made with Mohagany wood and looks out of this world. The stand measures 5'x3'x3'. The tank will be the same deminsions as the stand. It is going to be a 340gal tank when completed. I'm waiting on the glass to arrive (we don't have 3/4 inch glass available down here. Once it comes in the building process will begin

Are you to post pictures of the final product? Cause I'd love to see it.

I have, in the back of my mind, ambitions to build a tank, rather than buy a retail already made one. Might actually cost me less if I do it right, and I can have the tank how I need it to be.

The only thing that worries me with building my own tank is dont you need some sort of banding because I just dont see how one could rely on silicone alone to hold it all together.

You use crossbraces on the top to hold it together.Pressure builds up only if you build a tall tank, but i would def do lots of research before building something that holds all that potential water that could end up in my living room!

By the way, I just thought of something a couple of hours ago.

Walmart sells picture frames pretty cheap, at least, in the area I live in.

I seriously might use the glass from large picture frames, to make a tree frog terrarium. I'll probably use the wooden frames for climbing branches. They was somebody I heard of a long time ago, that would have a friend cut up an old oil drum a certain way, then she'd clean it out and make a terrarium out of it. I like people who hollow out televisions for terrariums too.
