? could of already been posted and i jus didnt find it sorry if that is the case.

i have a baby RES that was born this year. i have a 20 gallon long for now and nothing on the bottom of the tank ( great for cleaning ) but obviously he loves to swim and i want something that will provide traction without the weight of river rocks!! i have looked at other links and ppl have put somekind of flooring from the local home depot... should i put something in the bottom or is it not necessary? and is so what? im sure there is a list but im clueless

If you're talking about substrate, nothing is actually required. Here's the link to the section about substrate, it should help you decide whether you want to add one or not:

Like untsmurf said, not necessary... There's a sand FAQ here that might be good for you to read.

Gravel is a big no-no, like, fish gravel, if you haven't already noticed we have simply banned the concept completely on this forum. Turtles eat it.

I don't really use a typical substrate. I bought those glass half inch diamater stones that wal-mart sells. They are small enough for them to manipulate, but right now big enough not to be swallowed. (Not for turtles over four inches)
