Habitat - Indoor :: Great Deal on Tank

I am so excited because my husband found a 55 gallon tank for my RES for 50 bucks on Craig's List. We called the guy, went and checked it out, tested it with water and walked out with it for 50 bucks!!! However, my RES is about 5 inches long. This isn't too big for him is it??? He LOVES it and we are looking for a better floating dock. He is now too big for the small floating dock that we bought when we got him last September. I was looking at the magnetic ones that are large. Are these good?

Perfect size for him. General rule of thumb is 10 gallons per inch of the turtle.

same deal i got on my tank. Found a guy in arizona that had tanks from 10-150 i believe and he charged a 1 per gallon

i personally have not found an in tank basking area that supports my turtles. Suction cup docks are the worst unless the turtles are babies. I would make an above the tank basking area. It will be around the same price depending on what you make it out of.

I just got a magnetic dock today, seems to work great but my turtle is only 3 inches long and 80 ounces in weight (at least that's what he was when we went to the vet in December). The only thing is Mr Pink can't seem to climb on it as easily as he could his old suction cup floating dock. Then again he might just not be used to the new one.

That's exactly it.....Give him time to build the muscles to pull himself up or try to make it easier by putting some weight on the dock so it sinks a little.
