My turtle wont bask!!! I have one of those floating docks, do you think thats the problem? I am so worried about her, she is losing skin like crazy! Help please!!

What is your set up like? It's hard to say why without more details.

What is the water temp? What is the basking temp? Do you have a heat bulb and UVB bulb above the basking area? How large of a tank is he in? How much water? How long have you had him?

Are you sure your turtle's not basking? Some here say that their turtles only bask when they aren't around - they've actually set up video cameras to "catch them in the act".

Is the turtle's shell soft? Could it be that she is just shedding? Like Sonyj said, you need to give more information about the turtle and her setup.

I have had her a week. it is a 30 gallon tank, about 3/4 full. I have a filter going, and a UVB and UVA light on her. th water is usually between 71-80 degreesShe is shedding, but it seems like a lot. How much should she be shedding? I knew she would shed, but whenever I come in she is in the same spot in the water shedding. She has been like that for 4 days straight. is this ok?

There are rocks on one side of the takn that build up out of the water. Sorry, I didn't give you more information, I was nervous.

It's ok to be nervous, the more information we have, the better we can help!

The water temp should not fluxuate so much. For a hatchling, the water temp should be a consistant 78F. A water heater will help keep the water consistant, if you don't have one, I recommend one. Shedding is normal, but I'm not sure how long the process takes. I have had my turts a year and they haven't shed yet. The shouldn't shed too frequently though, and having the water temp too high can lead to excessive shedding.

You didn't mention what the basking area temp was...do you know?

Does she have privacy to bask in? My turtles won't bask if I am in the room watching them. They run if they hear me coming. So is it possible you just aren't seeing them bask?
