Habitat - Indoor :: can I put wood in my tank?

Like .. umm you know wood that you build with? I know I have to boil it and stuff, but I just want to use it for part of the basking area?

I think that there are chemicals used to treat the wood that can seep out into the tank even if you boil the wood, so I wouldn't use it. Also, wood won't last very long if you're submerging it. You may want to opt for something more durable, a lot of people make basking perches out of PVC or plastic crates.
IF, however, you are making a separate basking area above the tank ( as in the wood isn't touching the water...see the photogallery for examples) you can use plywood or something to make the actual basking box out of.
