Habitat - Indoor :: Can I???

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Can I take some of the rocks in my old turts tank and put some of them in my new baby turts tank if I wash them off? Do I need to clean them a certain way or can I just wash/soak them off with/in reallly hot water?

I would boil them for at least 15 minutes just to be perfectly safe. I think that should kill almost anything that might be transmitable.

And if anyone asks what you're doing, you can offer them stone soup! :wink:

I agree with Scripta, I would boil it just to be safe, better safe than sorry.

Boiling anything for 20 minutes will kill any bacteria that may be present with the exception of spore forming bacteria such as clostridium and some other nasty ones...if you boil them for 20 min you should be fine

Reminds me of the fairy tale about the vagabond with the stone which he uses to trick an old lady to make a delicious soup with... haha.
