How long do you think a 40 gal tank would last me if my turt is 2 1/4 inches... before she grows out of it... I mean it looks pretty roomy and is inexpensive; $67.00 at the pet store...

Maybe 6 months to a year, depends on how fast your turtle grows, which varies case by case. A lot of us see that sale going on, and our first instinct is to purchase it immediately. I'd reccomend that you hold of and set-up a permanent enclosure instead of working up in increments which costs a lot more in the long run.

I would highl recommend keeping an eye on craig's list and ebay instead. I bet you can find a 75 gallon for under 100. A lot of tanks are pick up only, so you have to keep an eye out for your area.

For the 40 gallon size, you can easily find a plastic tub to do the job. Put the rest of the $60 towards that 120 gallon tank :)
