Yep, I am changing some details for my turtles' home. I bought the "floating Island" today and suck in onto a side where I have the basking light and take all the gravel out. This kills two birds with one stone.......

1) gravel is dangerous for turtles----> since the turtles can easily eat it and create a blockage in the digestive tract and it traps the feces and dirt to the bottom of the tank. I heard big rocks can be dangerous, too.....since it may injure the turtle.

2) It gives the turtles more swimming space; since they are hearty swimers.

Also, I bought some Reptomin pellets, since I heard a lot of good things about Reptomin in this forum. Let's hope for the best.

by the way did you finnaly separate the bigger one?

No, I haven't. The bigger one won't bother the little ones.

Make sure you check the temps on the basking rock. You dont want them to be too high.

Also large rocks, if they are not stacked can be ok, just dont make them bulders. Speaking of which i'm going to the beach soon to pick more up. smaller ones for them to decorate with.

I've got the floating island and must say I am not impressed with it. I'm considering changing the decor of the whole tank just to get rid of it. It was great when the turtles were just wee lads but now they are each about 4 inches (whoohoo I can sell them legally!! Not that I ever would) and the floating island sinks when one gets on...thus making it a bad basking area...
