So I plan on using wood, but how can i put it together without using nails and a hammer? Is there any other way to attach the wood together that will be strong enough and safe enough for the turtle to bask on? Thanks

Someone said that silicone might not work. Is wood glue safe to put into the turtle's habitat? Will the glue lose it's stickyness really fast if exposed to water 24/7?

Wood glue won't work long term under water. Above the water line, and if the wood is stained and sealed, it will last the life of the wood.....wood glue wont work as well on plywood (unless you have a perfect edge), it definitely wont work with MDF (particleboard). Do you know someone who has even some basic woodworking skills who may help you out?

My uncle makes everything on his own from his backyard patio to his own basement, i guess i could ask for his help, but I don't know when i will see him (he lives in missisauga) or whether he would be willing to help me. Is there no way that I could do it myself? I made a chair from hammer and nails and wood once for a school project, so i guess i have really basick woodworking skills

If you can make a chair (no easy task, by the way) you should have no problem making a three sided box with a piece of Plexiglas on the front. Just measure everything carefully and take your time, you can do it.....

you may not even need the plexi unless you want to be able to see him while he is up there basking. I know Norman likes to be left alone when he is doing his thing. The slightest peek from me and *PLOP* back in the water. So you could always make it a little private spot for him. Whatever you decide tho goodluck and let us know how it goes. I been thinking about an out of water area for Norman also.
Lord,
Grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change.
The courage to change the things that I can.
And the wisdom to know the difference.
