Habitat - Indoor :: Turtle ramps

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Post Posted: Mon Feb 12, 2007 6:36 pm   Turtle ramps

Does anyone know of a store where I could buy a turtle ramp such as the ones below. The Pet supplies plus near me doesn't have them. My turts have the turtle log and some regular rocks to climb and they love them but I want to give the option of another basking section. Thanks.

Sorry to say this but you should not buy these ramps because there is no grip for your turtle :(

I thought several people on this board used that dock and were happy with it. Are you unable to order online? Is there any reason that you've ruled out one of the floating docks?

I tried the floating dock and my RESs wouldn't go on it. I know they would go on the ramp because they are always on the little ramp i made for them out of rocks. If I could get a ramp then there would be more room for them to swim. I can order online, I just prefer not to... I was just wondering if they were in stores.

This is funny.. I made a topic like this a few days ago.. here you go http://www.redearslider.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7824 and acctually the blue stuff along the acrylic glass is the grip for the turtle so its fine.

Yeah, lots of folks on here use those ramps and like them. Industrial Girl 2000's big girl Sheba uses one and you can see pictures of it if you search.

A lot of people on here prefer those docks to the floating ones. If your turtle doesn't like the bobbing of the other style, this would be a great alternative. Sorry I don't know where to get one offline.

we have the large one, and both my res enjoy it. Mine is the large or extra large one with two ramps and a landing between the two.

yeah, i thought so, too. i've seen the ramp from several of the posters, most notably grey goose and industrial_girl2000 and neither one of them seem to have any complaints.

I actually have a question about the two docks mentioned by the original poster. I'm considering buying one for Slowpoke because he's heavy for his size and I don't want to go to a bigger size floating dock. But I can't really make sense of the dimensions these websites give. For the large, drfostersmith says the ramp is 11 x 16.5. I'm guessing that's the width of the entire upper platform, not of the ramp that extends down? Then it says it's 6.5 high...does that mean that that's as deep as your water could be, or does it not matter if the ramp touches the bottom of the tank? And finally, it says the actual platform is 4 x 8.5, that just seems awfully small to me. To those of you who use it, are your turtles able to use it easily?

If it helps at all, we're talking about a 5 inch turtle in a tank that's about 12 inches from front to back...I'm hoping one of you familiar with the dock can help me determine what will hold my turtle and fit in my tank. Thank you!

I know industrial_girl_2000 has one you can ask her for dimensions. I would do it for you, but I built mine into a box(above tank basking spot).

Here is what her 9 inch turtle looks like on the ramp(you can see the end dipping into the water lol BIG GIRL!!)...
