Habitat - Indoor :: price and where to buy online 80 gal. tank

i have 2 res, probably about 4" each, and they're still in a 35 gal tank, i know, too small. the thing is i live in monterrey, mexico and the largest tank i can get is a 65 gal that costs about 600usd. i have an address in texas and can probably buy a bigger one online and cheaper and have it sent there. can anybody recommend a good online store for that? or a store in texas? also, what is the approximate price for an 80 gal tank?

wow, that is a lot of money for a tank! i had searched around a little bit and wasn't really successful in finding websites that ship big tanks. if you could find a store in texas, that would probably be your best and cheapest way to go. you could go to petsmart.com or petco.com and search for their store closest to you. or even if it's a small individual pet store that you go to in texas, it will have a much better deal than $600.

drive up to texas, see what you can find. used tanks tend to be pick up only, and the s&h on a new tank is extremely high, even when it's domestic.

i don't know the approx price for an 80 gallon. i know in my area of town you can get a 72 gallon starting around $300 at the petstore. but i still haven't gone to any other type of specialty shop where it could be cheaper (or more expensive).

have you tried looking for used ones in a swap sheet or on craigslist? I found my 45 gallon and stand for 100 in our local pennysaver. While I was looking for that I saw tons of people selling 75 gallon tanks or bigger. Definitely check your local classifieds and see if there's anything.

I would like to know where you guys get your tanks. My local Petco. charges a lot for tanks (40 bucks for a 20 gallon tank). It depends on the style here, and of course it is always cheaper without a stand. I would say an 80 gallon tank (you might have better luck finding a 75 gallon tank) would be about 150 bucks. The 72 gallon for 300 dollars are most likely bowfronts, which greatly increases the cost of the tank. Good luck.

yep, that's right they are bowfronts, but then my local petstores do not have the regular 72 galloners. i bought my 20 long for $24, but it was on sale at the time. it also depends on where you're at. in my neighbourhood it's one price, while in another neighbourhood it's less or more.

craigslist is definatly the way to go.

55gal for $40, including heaters and powerheads (dont use anymore).

those kind of deals are not unheard of on craigslist.
