For what it's worth, when I upgraded Sheba's tank to the 90gal monstrosity she has now, I got a Fluval 4+ filter for her because it was on sale for $25. It works well enough for what she needs and I am glad, because after spending $1000 for the tank/stand, I really didn't have another $200 to get a canister filter. I figured that was honestly the least of my worries at the time & as long as it filtered well, I was ok with that. Plus, owning a python meant I was going to change her water more frequently anyway, so it didn't matter if I dind't have the latest/greatest filter. The important thing for me at the time was to get Sheba in a tank that was more worthy of her 9" long shell.
Eventually I plan on upgrading to a canister, but I don't plan on it anytime soon.
