Ok, so from what little I know of underwater plants is that when you get plants that are specifically made for underwater habitats, they can come with eggs that hatch into snail shells and get all throughout the tank and filter...
I recently talked to a local pet shop employee and he said that if I wanted to make sure that I didn't get any shells, that I should just buy regular house plants and put them in the tank (he said that that's basically what they were, and that when I did that, the leaves and stems would widen and lengthen, but other than that that they would be healthy)...
I'm not too sure about this method, and even less sure of what types of plants to test it on...
my questions is, if I were to get some specifically underwater plants, and they did end up to have eggs in them, is there a way to get rid of the shells without physically scrubbing and cleaning them out? something kind of like a poisen for them or something like that?
I ask this because I want to add plants to my tank when I get my turtle, sort of a mix between just wanting to have some atmosphere in the tank, as well as giving him something else to chew on if he feels the need...
-Thanks...
