Can anyone help me out by telling me what I'll need to do to build a pvc basking area? Thanks!

Wow, I never would have thought there would be jerks lurking on a turtle forum. Thanks for the help.

Well, he's right. Easiest thing would to make a cube, put a top on it and a ramp from said top to water.

Okay thank you too. I understand the geometry of the thing. I was kind of hoping to know the less obvious aspects of it- as in what to use to make the top and the ramp and how to attach them all securely. I understand the concept of putting a top on a platform. I'll try another site, maybe people will be a little more helpful and a little less condescending somewhere else.

Relax. Be more specific with your questions and you'll get a more detailed answer. We don't know what you know until you tell us what you know.

Zip ties with light diffuser or tile would probably work. Most people use straight light diffuser, though. There is a megathread 'here' with different designs. Most are said diffuser, but some have different layers.

im just messing around. trust me, you wont find another site as informative as this one.
some people have used a floor tile to use as a basking platform or even acrylic. the easiest way for a ramp would just be buying a zoo med floating dock and angle it to work as a ramp. and aquarium safe epoxy will work to hold it all together.

i put a post up like a week ago. asking people to stop replying to posts like that. if you're not going to try and help/ be nice about it. don't bother posting at all. no question is a stupid question. and negativity and sarcasm drives people away from this great site, and it drives their motivation to take care of their turts properly away. believe it or not it's belittling. not everyone knows how to do everything. people come here asking for help on the proper way to give their turtles a great/healthy life. isn't that good enough? when you don't give them a proper answer or be sarcastic about the question, and make the person look dumb, don't you think that person will be like "screw that website" and go along caring for their turtle the way they think is right. ( which usually isn't the proper way). It's better that people ask "stupid" questions, then not ask questions at all. Plain and simple its just not friendly.

There's no need to white knight this guys first post. When they give nothing, it's best to assume they know nothing and start with basics. Some people are genuinely clueless when it comes to building things.
