too steep ramp, and the plastic box blocks out the needed UV.

The ramp looks like its either a thin plywood or pressboard, both of which are treated and shouldn't be used in aquatic habitats. Even though you said you soaked the wood, it's still likely to leech some chemicals and it will eventually rot. Your turtle also has no traction to help him climb it.

If you wanted to make a ramp, I'd lessen the slope and use something like plexiglass rather than wood. To give traction, I'd use aquarium silicone to glue something (plastic strips, for example) to give the ramp texture and make it easier to climb.

i'm sorry but it looks messy and dirty no offense. your filter seems like it's not working. save up and do it right if your gonna do it at all.(sorry i don't wanna sound harsh)ohh the plastic holds bacteria they can get through the tape and escape. they can digest the sand and it will mess up your filter

Why don't you take a new pic of how it is now so we can give you some better advice. And maybe do a close up on the ramp so we can see the texture you are talking about.

wow sorry to hear about the car crash.

um I don't know, I've never built an above basking box before.

Maybe try a crate of something?

Or you could you try and cut out the top off of your already made basking box. That way the UVB can get through. You could take out all the sand and just put in a flat rock and some plastic plants.

mmm If your turtle is very tiny he'll be fine with a zoomed turtle dock.

Serra is almost 3 inches and she fits very well on the small size.
