You might consider making your own filter! A lot of the cost of a larger tank is the filter, not the tank.

Do you in America not have access to the Eheim range of filters?

Yeah we do, as far as i know.

We find that they are the best available filters over here. Just cram them with alfagrog and a touch of filter wool. I find that they work best.
