Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Hey Im going to be moving to an apartment this Sunday and I was wondering if Serra could live in her 10 gallon for another couple of months....She's 2 inches now.

Im still saving money to get her a bigger tank....

So could she stay in that ten gallon for another couple of months? or would it stunt her growth? I REALLLY don't want that to happen...

Given a good diet and etc. It wont stunt her growth, but turtles grow pretty fast. How long are we talking we here? I'd give it like, 6 months until she gets around 3 inches, maybe more. You know..on the meanwhile you can always set up a rubbermaid for her, or maybe a stock tank as a permenant home, and you can save the money for something that you will realy need, like a surprise vet visit or a good filter, etc.

I'd say she'd be okay in that tank for a couple of months though. Just make sure the tank isnt too crowded with deco and other animals. How big of a tank are you planning on getting?

Yea if I can't find a big aquarium I'll look into a rubbermaid. The apartment's too tiny to fit a stock tank...LOL

Im looking for a 50 gallon...

If anything check craigslist. Are you a long stretch away from gathering enough money? You can buy a 50 gallon rubbermaid...it aint that big, I have a 60 gallon and it fits perfect in my small apartment. The tub cost me 15$, but just make sure you find a way to support the sides, they crack overtime from all that water, which reminds me...I still have to find a way to support the sides of both my rubbermaids, oh lazy me. But personally a rubbermaid would be nicer, easier to clean and, it'll give serra more privacy and if it ever breaks it'll be easy and cheap to replace.

I spent all my money on a 20 gallon long tank and soon an aquaclear 70...Glass tanks look nicer but my turtles will soon outgrow this so my next upgrade will probably be a 50 gallon rubbermaid because of their price...Can you get a clear one that big and do the heat from the lights melt the tub?

Actually, no..the heat from the lamps dont melt the tub. On mine, they never have and I think they never will. Sterlite makes clear tubs, and they are stronger too. I have a 20 gallon one that barely bows out when filled all the way. I've never seen sterlite tubs bigger than 20 gallons though..and they arent even that clear, so it doesnt matter,

Serra could live in that 10-gallon another two months, but it will require more frequent cleaning than if Serra was in a larger tank (and of course Serra would be happier with more space). If you haven't, try to maximize swimming space in the tank with a basking area that doesn't take up space and fewer larger objects in the tank (if there are any) until you move and can get a bigger container.

I had to keep my two in a 50gal until I moved the first time. They were both 4.5in by then and they were fine.

Thank you!!

She probably won't be stuck in there for more than 2 months.
