Habitat - Indoor :: What do you use as hiding spots for your turtles?

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I was wondering what everyone else used as a "hiding spot" for their turtles in their tanks?
Thanks!

I dont use anything now that they're bigger. When they were little I had a reptile cave in there. You could use a plant pot or something as long as it's nothing they could get stuck in.

My turtle has a bunch of fake leaves that I attached to a suction cup. She sleeps under them, and ocassionally just rests near them.

I have a fake plant that had a large river rock in it but it always gets knocked out so it just floats around and they like to rest on it..They also like the end of the tank where the internal filter, submersible heater, veggie clip, and thermometer is..there's a bunch of stuff going on but they can't get stuck and like the current from the filter.

My turtles are only about 3.7 inches and in each of their tanks I have some anacharis and hornwort (real aquatic plants), they love to hide in it and eat it too! For a small turtle, some real/fake plants, a plant pot or even PVC pipes might do the trick, just becareful and make sure that your turtle cannot get stuck under and drown as a result of using any of the things mentioned above.

When mine were incredibly small, they had a flower pot on it's side. They never seemed to care for it though. Also, if you go that route, make sure the material that it is made out of isn't going to leak chemicals into your water.

When mine were a little older, I got them an elbow pvc pipe and they loved it. My female is be enough now that she will get stuck in it, so I had to remove it. They used to sleep in it, swim through it, etc.

The areas under their basking areas are great hiding places (wouldn't even know turtles are in the tanks, especially the stock tanks), as well as fake plants.

I just built an above tank basking area and the base is covered with small river rocks and i put his fake plant under there so he's covered on the top and he can get behind the plant where he thinks i can't see him through the glass. He LOVES it! That has become his new favorite hangout.

My oldest RES, Koopa, has her own 30 gal. tank that has water lettuce and water hyacinths floating on the surface. The long, bushy roots make perfect cover for skittish turtles like herself, haha :] The two baby's in the smaller tank have duck weed floating in the water to crawl under. And nibble :]

I love teacups for little turtles! I kept rock bridges in with my painteds so they could hide if they wanted to, but they never did. Hercules still has his for decoration, but he never goes under there. They'd rather be swimming around in the open and begging for food. For small turtles plants work great. Look at gray goose's tanks, he used a number of things, including pvc pipe which his turts seemed to love.
