Habitat - Indoor :: aluminum can in aquarium?

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I have a "vintage" 8oz beer can that I thought would look good in the turtle aquarium. It's the older, thicker cans. I assume it's aluminum...

Would this be a problem?

thanks.

A few things come to mind. A) would it even sink. B) It probably isn't good for the water quality. C) Possible injuries. I'de advise against it.

It's mainly the paint on the can that would pose a problem.

Older cans were made with tin I believe.

I have to ask---why would an old beer can look good in an aquarium? To me, it would look like litter. I pick up beer cans that people throw out of car windows and land in/near a nearby brook.

If it's vintage (worth money?), wouldn't it be better to display it on it's own?

It's just another form of display. It's really not that much different than an anchor, bell, sunken ship etc.

Plus my turtle really likes beer.

You're kidding, right?

If it is tin, it will corrode in the aquarium.

I'll take that last comment as a joke...

To me, an anchor, bell or sunken ship is more appropriate for a fish tank than a turtle tank.
