is it safe to use? what else can I use to stop my floating deck from moving around?

Why would you want to stop it from moving? What kind of floating dock is it?

it's the kind that just floats around on the water... i posted another topic about how the bottom side of the turtle looked a little bit scratched. Someone mentioned about how it was harder for a turtle to get on while the dock was moving.

So it's not anchored to the side at all? It's important for the dock to be stuck in place so that it's always positioned under the basking lights. It would be tough to do that if your dock isn't designed to be attatched at all, but with a little creativity you could probably make it work. If you could post a picture of it we might be able to help you more.

I agree with octpusgirl8, though I would go for a more reliable dock... ZooMed Turtle dock, an acrylic dock or make your own.

To answer your question.....I've had no problem with double sided tape. But, I've got some kinda ultra sticky industrial grade stuff. Not the cheap foamy stuff. I wouldn't want the turtles to ever be able to eat it.

Any way, I also suggest just getting a different dock or making one.

Yes, that would be hard for a turtle to get up on even if it wsn't floating free. They need to be able to push themselves up with their back legs and there's no where for them to grab ahold on that raft. They need something with a ramp.

I once had one that looked similar to that and drilled holes in it so it would say on the bottom (the tank had a very low water level). It looks like there are some slight inclines in the rock, however, if the material it's made out of is the same as mine (resin or plastic), it doesn't allow for good gripping and gets slippery with a film if the surface gets dirty. You could try drilling some holes and fitting suction cups in them so you could stick it to the side of the tank to keep it from moving, but this won't work for larger turtles and still might not work for hatchlings if it's really hard to get on...
