Habitat - Indoor :: wood finish?

okay, i made a 2nd level basking area in shop class, i got the idea from a post i posted a while ago. Well, i am finished assembling in and i didnt stain it, im not going to, ind i was wandering in clear non-toxic finish would harm my turtle if he decides to try to eat it?

I don't really know. But turtles don't eat outside of water so as long as you don't add the finish to any parts of the wood touching the water you SHOULD be fine.

It's not making any contact with the water, right?
You can seal it with polyurethane. Sand the wood smooth, finishing with 220 grit, then apply at least three coats, sanding LIGHTLY with 220 grit (or higher, I like to use 300 grit) between coats. Then let it set for a couple of days.
I've been thinking of using wood for a basking area, post a pic of it when you're done.
