I have a big outdoor spotlight bulb think it’s a halogen would this be good to use for a heat bulb?

How many watts is it? Keep in mind that halogen lamps throw A LOT more heat per watt than regular bulbs.

Outdoor halogens are usually around 100 watts, way too strong for using as a basking lamp. The lamp I use is rated at 40 watts (par 16) and is set 12" above the basking area. The fixture I use has a rheostat to control its intensity.
