Habitat - Indoor :: Dual filters?

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Well, I currently house 2 RES's (just over a year old each) in a nice big 70 gallon tank for them. I'm currently using a AquaClear (fountain type) filter made for a 70 gallon tank.

Kind of a newbie move, didn't realize how dirty these guys were. So i'm getting a Filstar XP3 for christmas, but will have the aquaclear one kinda sitting around.

Would it be at all beneficial to use them both? Or would the aquaclear one make almost no difference at all, and be more trouble than its worth?

When it comes to turtles (especially multiple turtles) you can never have enough filtration.
When I got my HUGE FX5 for my 90 Gal tank, I also had an old (6-7 years) Fluval 203 filter, which couldn't possibly handle a 90 gallon tank with three turts, but I figured what the heck, instead of just storing it down in the basement, I'd put it to work on the other end of the tank. If anything, it provides more circulation, plus I put all my chemical and mechanical (mostly charcoal and filter floss, but I'm experimenting with a resin which is supposed to remove nitrates from the water) media in it and it hums along just fine.

Like grey said, you can never have to much filtration on a larger tank(now, if you put an FX5 on a 10 gallon tank... well you get the point. ). I have two RES in a 240 gallon tank, and I use two FX5's. Each one is rated for a 400 gallon tank, so I have 800 gallons of filtration! :D Most filters are rated for fish, as you have found out, turtles are much more "dirty" then fish. Ideal, would be to have three time the rating for a turtle tank. So say you have a 10 gallon tank, you should buy a 30 gallon filter.

I hope you enjoy your new filter!! :D :D
