Any fish you add will likely be eaten. That's why most people opt for rosy red minnows. They are healthier than most fish so it's fine when your turtle eats them, and they are very cheap to buy.
Since fish are so high in protein, they should only be given as a treat, about once a month or so.

Pretty much any fish you put in a turtle tank will end up as a snack for your turtle. So if you want fish in there I would suggest not getting to attached. Rosy Red minnows and guppies are good feeders =)

Jp-10 -- The turtle will nep at themwhether they arebig or not. It will be piece here and a piece there until the fish cannot swim well, and then, gulp. It takes longer with some turtles than with others. Fish are food for turtles.

Turtles look cute and seem unlikely hunters, but they are truly great predators, and nothing that goes in the tank with them stands a very good chance. If you put Pihranna in with the turtles, I wouldn't ever, but if you did, the turtles would eat them, not vice versa.

Small turtles don't usually go after fish and get them as much as bigger RES. I personally think fish are a good thing to have in the tank because they provide exersize and company.

Pleco's seem to do okay...ive recently put a couple larger ( 4 inche or so ) Bala sharks in with my turt...the balas are incredibly fast and seem to be doing ok...But inevitably im sure they will go down. If you really want fish ( like i do ) go with something larger and fast. just my opinion.

I buy a dozen or so fancy feeders (swordtail, fantail, etc) at .08 cents each every now & then for the turtle tank. When most have disappeared (read: eaten) I go get more. They're live bearers & breed well, so there's often baby fish to watch as well.
