suction cup soap dish. they're 2.50 at my walmart. Chrisbarnett turned me on to that idea and Torti just loves it :)

Mikey uses plants, filters, his basking dock, the bubble tubes, his floating log... pretty much anything and everything. You can try a vegetable clip from the pet store. They make them to look like Nemo (from Finding Nemo). They suction to the wall, are pretty cheap, and make feeding vegetables much easier!!

is it a 100% guarantee that if a "sleeping" dock is there, the turtle will use it?

Nope. They tend to just grab ahold of something near the surface so they don't have to wake up and swim up from the bottom of the tank to get a breath. But if they don't like it, they won't use it. What does your turt use now?

Yup, clear suction cup soap dish here too. Squirt sleeps on it every night, without fail!

I put it so that he can easily put his nose above water.

yea i noticed.

my smallest turtle always sleeps in the back corner with his leg propped on the probe of my digital thermometer. haha i always have to remember to put it back in the right spot so i dont move his bed.

my other turtle just sleeps with his body propped on the ramp of his dock.

splash uses some egg crate with a suction on each side of a 90 degree angel and crush has this one round rock that sits on the bottom of his tank and he sleeps on it on his belly with all his arms out like hes dead. its really funny!

all the suction cup soap dishes ive found seem like they would be too small. how big are your turtles chris and zoo?

My turtle is about 3.5", and the dock is 5" longx3"wide. Zoo's turtle is 5" i think.

I think you already know, but to use the soap dish, you should flip it upside down so that it is a platform. It doesn't matter really if your turtles shell hangs off a bit, but if your turt is large, you may want to buy 2 dishes, and put them one right after another, so that it is 10" long.

Another option for ya is to get one of the larger corner holders, meant to hold shampoo and stuff in the corner of your shower. It has a triangle platform, and would fit nicely in the corner of a tank.

Zoo has a name... it's Jessy, lol!

Torti never uses her dock for sleeping. she still prefers to sleep in the dark corner of the tank, specially since i'm up late.

however, she loves to 'sit up pretty' as i call it and peek over the edge of the tank. she'll sit like that for a long time, watching what i'm doing.

here is a crummy pic:

My babies dont use anything. They just wedge themselves between something and the tank wall with their nose sticking slightly out of the water.
