with me moving to college Torti got a much needed upgrade.

stats:
50g tank
XP2 filter
2 bags Crayola blue sand
new ATTBA

i got two bags of blue and two of green, i was going to mix them but the two of blue was enough.
you can find the crayola sand at walmart!
yes, a background will be nice once i have the money for one. :/
and i got the 50 gallon from **shudder** petsmart. last time i shop there. everything i get is now from PetCo!

yupp yupp! my college is apartment style housing, no dorms on campus.... so the max gallonage allowed is 50.


background is on the tank, it looks awesomeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I love the sand. The more I see sand, the more I'm tempted to switch. Especially after I recently did a big clean up....ugh I don't remeber who said it but someone here warned me that there was probably more junk under my river rocks then I thought...and they were right. And it's just impossible to get it all out! But what am I going to do with my $50 worth of rocks?!?

dump them out, just like i did.

think about the switch, you'll be spending only $10 for two bags of sand that cover a 50 gallon tank! easier to clean and cheaper!

So, ah, question :

How do you clean your sand?

Just wondering how people do it - presently, I have nothing on the bottom of my RES's tank, and it is boring. In the past I've had rocks (and before that, gravel - before I knew better).

So seriously, how do you clean your sand? Please :)

i was told not to use sand because if the turtles try to eat the sand it can clump up inside of there intestines and kill the turtle!
