Habitat - Indoor :: Free Aquariums

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Post Posted: Tue Aug 26, 2008 6:27 pm   Free Aquariums

I know alot of people like me can't always afford a big aquarium for their res. I was looking to upgrade a couple weeks ago and my wife found me a free 55 Gallon tank on "The Freecycle Network". The people who gave it to me were very nice and it worked out great. I checked out the website and it looks like the network is very large spanning the U.S, anyone looking for a free tank should check it out, or if you want to get rid of something, I gave away to older tvs from my basement.

you just sign up for it in your local area and you get emails about stuff that people are giving away or things that people want

I do like freecycle :) There is groups in Canada too. I got myself a push mower off of there. I've seen a few tanks in my group (usually 30 gals or less).

Freecycle is pretty great here. My friend got two four wheelers for free. The mom was punishing her dumb kid by giving his four wheelers away and making him drive to the new owners house to wash them every week for two months.

Our Freecycle is a yahoo group and you can just go in whenever you want to see what people have posted, or get 1 email a day with the updates.

How it works.. people have things they don't want, they post it to the group, you email the person to tell them that you want it, and you go pick it up. :) In my group the good things are usually scooped up right away, so you need to stay on top of it for a good deal.

freecycle over here in england isnt too bad!!! i find a few decent tanks but thres an almost 100% chance someone else gets them. they dont use a first come first served basis which is a shame.
