You won't find one without a plug.

Try a Repti Glo 26 watt 5.0 compact fluorescent made by Exo Terra.

haha i dont know about a lamp without a plug.

but i have two different UVB bulbs.

the first one is a 24 inch, 20 watt 5.0 UVB reptisun. (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/images/Ca ... 16DZIO.jpg)
it works perfectly fine, but you are very limited on how you can place it overhead, and the hood lamp is kind of pricey, as well with the bulb itself. the product itself is fine but make sure it is at least 8" from the basking area (its been known to cause problems)

my other one, which i prefer as i think many would agree, is a 26 watt 5.0 (http://www.arcatapet.com/fullsize/12516.jpg) UVB repti glo. this is can be placed in a specific mini hood lamp (which is kind of pricey) or in a regular clamp lamp provided by fluker (or any other brand). one problem with being put in a clamp lamp is that the bulb sticks out of the lamp instead of like a regular bulb. this makes the bulb shine REALLY bright if its not point directly downward or away from active areas.

i dont know if you know what the 2.0, 5.0, or 10.0 mean in front of the word UVB on the boxes, but it means the percentage of UVB output by that bulb. 2.0 is not strong enough for turtles and 10.0 is too strong. they even have turtles on the 5.0 reptisun boxes for i guess "turtle safe" but i could be wrong.

hope this helps!

I guess I'm lucky...I bought the 10.0 because it was cheaper and I haven't had a problem with it at all. I just won't have to replace it as soon as normally. And raise it higher than 10 inches.

You mean screw a lamp socket into the lid? Then yes it shouldn't hurt as long as the lid is made of metal and not plastic.

is there a reason why you cant just clamp the lamp on the side of the tank that isnt covered?

Not true! You just have to make your own tesla coil which can take a lot of money, then you have wireless energy! As long as you hold the bulb. :P

(That's just me being a wise crack)

Anyway, I got this light at a local pet store and they did a price match. :P If you can get it without the bulb, then I suggest it, as the bulb doesn't have a large UVB output.
