Habitat - Indoor :: Building new ATBA

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Ok so I know pretty much what I am going to do to build everything. I am going to make a wood ATBA. My question is, what should I use to seal the wood to prevent moisture damage? I know that epoxy resin paint is safe, but I cannot get my hands on any of that in this area. Thanks![/img]

Above Tank Basking Area
1.0.0 RES-Slash
1.2.0 Cat-Abby/Cali/Nemo
0.1.0 Yorkie-Lucie
1.0.0 Jack Russell Terrier-Cooper
I have lots of ideas! Trouble is, most of them suck!

I believe marine paint would be the way to go in most situations.

Is there contact with the water? If so, then I would consider a different type of material (ceramic, plastic, cork bark).

There would be no contact with the water. I'm just trying to find something to protect the wood, like on the inside of a fish tank canopy. The problem with the marine paint is that there is no one around here who sells it, and I have no way to order it off of the internet.

If it is not going in the water and marine paint is not an option then look at epoxy resins, preferably the ones for marines application rather than the automotive variety. You might also want to have a look at Solarez poly resin, since it doesn't require a separate catalyst, although I'm not sure what kind of availability you would have locally. Their website is http://www.solarez.com/index.php
1 RES, Spike (In new home with 1xPleco, 1xRed Zebra Cichlid, 1xYellow Lab Cichlid)
