BammBamm needs a new heater for his 40 gallon aquarium. Right now he has a Tetrafauna aquatic reptile heater that is preset to 78 F but its not going to keep his water warm enough now that its getting colder out. What kind of heater do you recommend for a 40 gallon aquarium?

The Stealth is great but has no "On" light. If you prefer one that has, I would look into an Ebo Jager. Also, try to purchase it on-line (unless you need it right away), the prices are much better.

Thanks I will be getting the heater this Saturday. Do either of those heaters have a protective cover so he wont get burnt?

The Visi Therm Stealth heater in my opinion is one of the best heaters out there and one of the safest for turtles they take a beating pretty well in the tank I had my visi therms for about a year and they have never been turned off since i purchased them and my water has maintained a 75 to 77 degree temp for the past year even when i do warter changes the recover rate to the desired temp is pretty quick I have 2-- 15" working my 180 gal tank and they work fine--great price to --

They do sell heater guards (from Tronic) if burning/breaking is a concern. The Stealths have been generally reliable for me but I make sure to check the temps everyday.

I don't know the brand of my heater, but I have a 55-gallon aquarium and I think my heater is good for up to 75 gallons. It's long, slender and black and has a plastic cover. My turtle has shattered more submersible heaters than I can count! Even the glass heaters that say shatter-proof, my turtle has managed to shatter! The one I have now has held up to her kicking rather well. I got mine at PetSmart. :D
