i was just wondering, is it ok to use the egg crate as the base of the ATBA & use plexiglass as the border & glue it on the egg crate?

depends on how big your turt is?? s/he's feet might fall through the gaps in the egg crate. then you got a poorly pet.

she's 6 inches long. her feet definitely won't get stuck in the gaps. ;)

I think it should be fine. I would put a cover across the top of the egg crate just to add some traction. I used shelf liner, it has tiny holes in it so it lets the water from the turtle leak through it but it doesn't scratch his plastron like the egg crate would. I just siliconed it on as well.

shelf liner? where can i find that & what kind of material is that?

so i would use silicone gel to glue the shelf liner to the egg crate then glue the plexiglass on the border of the egg crate with silicone gel? i'm also looking/thinking of a way 2 build the ramp in

Shelf liner can be found at a hardware store, it's some kind of soft rubber. You put it in your cabinets so that stuff doesn't slide around easily. You can get the thin kind and the thick kind, I recommend the thin kind.

Yup, glue it all together. And if you want, there are a few ways to make the ramp. You can use your old basking dock as the ramp, or you can cut a smaller piece of egg crate and glue it on so that it's diagonally down into the water.

oh ok :D! i was also wondering, if i use plexiglass as the wall, can i glue separate plexiglasses with silicone gel to form the wall? or does is it have to be bent?

you can use separate pieces. As long as it's sturdy and can withstand the turtle climbing on it. If you want to bend it though, I believe DavidY has a thread where he shows how to do it.
