what liner would be ok to use on an egg crate basking dock? would this be ok?

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.j ... Id=2752165

is the rubberish shelf liner ok to keep submersed under water? i have more of this, but i'm not sure if it's ok to keep submersed.

is a 12 by 12 basking dock big/large enough for a 6inch (& slightly growing) female RES? or does it need to be bigger?

I wouldn't use the carpet. From what I hear it can mold really easily.

The concern I have about the shelf liner is that it might leach something or that the turtles might try and eat it. If you secure it properly and it doesn't leach any chemicals (other people will be able to answer that) then I don't see a problem with it and would recommend that over the carpet.

I'm assuming you meant 12'' x 12'' and that should be more than enough for one six inch turtle. It should be able to last you a long time and unless she's a really big adult, it should last the life of the turtle.

aw ok, i thought that that carpet wouldn't mold, thank you for the heads up :). what do you mean by the shelf liner leaching? as i started making my basking platform, i was worried about Crush eating the shelf liner too. i figured out a good way to make it & i don't think she'll be able to bite it.

& thank you, i already cut out my 12" x 12" basking platform :). i wanted to make 1 large enough in case she'd grow.

she means leaching out chemicals or something harmful into the water. I'm not sure this has ever been a problem though.
