Habitat - Indoor :: Filter tubing... beneficial bacteria / algae ?

Ok, so most people wouldnt notice this because they most likely have a non clear tubing on their filters. Well the filter I bought for the temporary 10g tank I have Niko is has clear tubing. Now I'm guessing its a bit of both algae and beneficial bacteria but this just looks nasty. The tank is as clear as one would expect it to be the "gunk" if you will is just in the tubing. Funny thing is that its not even in my outflow pipe which is clear as well. Anyway I was bored and figured I'd share this lol.

Most filter tubing is clear..

And everyone gets that. It's not bad for it to be there unless it is clogging the tubes.

Most likely it's a combination of dissolved debris and algae (to my knowledge beneficial bacteria is not visible). Don't know how large the tubing you're using is, but it is possible to clean it . The canister filter I have takes 5/8" tubing and to clean it I tied a brush to a piece of thin rope and pushed it through the tubing with a wooden dowel, then pulled the brush back through. A few times of doing this, then running some water through the tubing would clean it. The alternative is to let the gunk get to a point that the water rushing though the tubing will actually start pulling it off (I've done this as well).

Most tubing for canister and other filters is clear. The tubing for pond filters usually isn't.

I'm gonna leave it there, I just figured I'd post the pic for the fun of it lol.

But the basking light being above it is almost certainly helping the growth heh.

If it gets to the point where I'm losing water flow then I'll clean it but for now I'll just leave it.
