Habitat - Indoor :: Upgrade Question

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Post Posted: Tue Nov 18, 2008 12:08 am   Upgrade Question

I'll need to be upgrading my 15 G soon and my local Pet Store offered me a 35G SQUARE tank for $70. Or a regular 40G long for $80. I'm thinking the Square tank is better because it gives the turtle more room to move around. Unfortunetly it is a littler wide, so i'll have to find a new place for it.

What's a better deal?

I think you should look around Craigslit first. Neither of those tanks are a very good deal, or going to last you for very long. I'd look around for a 55gal. I see them go all the time for about 50 bucks... I think a dollar a gallon is a good deal.

Okay, sounds good. I'm only going to use this tank until spring when my turt gets added to my Pond.

Oh, well in that case, still look around on Craigs for a better deal, but if you don't find anything soon then I think you should take one of the tanks. I would probably go for the 40 long if I were you.

Then when you are done with it in the spring, you can turn around and sell the tank of craigslist for a good percentage of what you bought it for... that is unless you want to keep it and start fishkeeping. ;)

Well I might want a Razorback Musk Turtle after my Belize grows out of its tank.

If it's only a temporary set up until the belize grows enough, why not just go with a rubbermaid bin? You'd still have to sink some money into filters and heaters, but you'd save a chunk on the expense of the tank itself.
