Habitat - Indoor :: Bently's checklist- Make sure it's correct!

I'm starting the Bently project, or in other words, Bently's upgrade from his 10 gallon to a 90 gallon. Here's what I have on my list so far. Please feel free to add anything I might be missing. Some things I just want for additional coolness!

-90 gallon glass aquarium w/built in basking spot from Glass Cages
-2 150 watt Visi Therm Stealth water heaters (is this too many? any other suggestions on water heaters for a 90 gallon?)
-Astro turf for my basking spot
-Fluval FX5 canister filter
-T-Rex Active Heat UV mercury vapor bulb
-Bubble Wand and cage background (for my pleasure )
-River Rocks (substrate)
-Screen top
-light fixture for MVB
-Zoo Med lamp stand
-Duckweed, Anacharis, hornwort, water lily, etc. (whatever the store carries)

looks pretty good. if the screen is going over the basking area make sure the holes are big enough to allow the UVB to get through. oh and not sure if you know but the fx5 doesnt come with media

Looks great to me!
The two 150W heaters should be fine. I use one 300W in my 90 gallon.
As Daniel said, make sure either there is at least 1/2" holes in the screen over the basking area, or cut out a spot so the UVB can shine through without any problems.

"Media" is the stuff you put in the filter. Common media is foam blocks (the FX5 does come with these), carbon, biomedia, and prefilter or coarse filter pads. There's lots of options out there. Do a search on the site and you'll find lots of threads discussing what various members use for media

I guess its a matter of preference, but rocks tend to trap more crap. You may consider sand as a substrate. Also consider, that if you have a built in basking area, you may not be able to change things later, if you get bored with the setup, and you may not be able to utilize all the space you have for water. Just a thought

Sand is a good way to go for substrate.. A lot of members use it.

i use sand for my 29 gal with my rescued RES, hes like 1.5 inches, and my 135 with my bigger turtles has barebottom until the spring comes
