Hi. I looked online at Wal Mart and found a 75 watt basking bulb. They have one for day and night. Is there a difference? They also have a 13 watt UVB bulb. Can i buy any of these and use a regular flexible lamp to put over the aquarium ? Please let me know which products I need for the baby turtles I don't know how old they are, but their shell is about 1- 1 1/2 inches across..They're not hatchlings, so I wasn't sure the about the proper care they need. Please suggest any heaters as well. I am going today or tomorrow to get the stuff.. THANKS!

the differences between the day and night basking bulbs are simply color. the daytime is going to be on the blue/white side, which the turtles can see. the night/red basking bulb is invisible to the turtles ad therefore provides invisible heat for the turtles, and a way for you to view your turtles at night, if you choose to. the daytime bulb should partner with the UVB bulb to create a basking area. the nightlight is optional.

you can just use a regular household bulb instead of the basking bulb. you will need the UVB bulb though. the 25watt ones are best but what ever you get make sure its 5% UVB. you can use a regular flexible desk lamp as long as there is nothing in between the UVB bulb and the basking area and as long as it is rated for the proper amount of watts. make sure that it is over the basking area because UVB cant go through water.

as for the heater go with the visi therm stealth. they are very good and wont shatter
