Habitat - Indoor :: Planter Canister?

So I know how beneficial aquatic plants can be to an aquarium whether it's for fish or turtles. So I've been tossing the idea around of making a canister style planter. Something that's separate from the tank so my turtles can't destroy the plants. So I came up with the idea of a canister style planter. It would be very similar to the DIY filter at the top of the page.

Here's my idea:




I would use a very low GP/H filter.

It's a neat idea, but don't forget that the plants will need light. If you set up a sump or something with a light above it, I think it might just work!

Yes that's the one problem I'm trying to solve.
