How do you guys/gals think this would work with sand? I know a few people in here have had/are having algae blooms in their sand.

I personally wouldn't waste my money on it and just stick with stirring the sand and the occasional sucking out some sand with a siphon.
When I get an algae bloom in my sand I just remove the infected sand via siphon and then throw it away. Wash new and put it back in. It's worked for me so far. I could always boil the sand to kill the cyanobacteria(Blue green algae) that grows on it but I'm too lazy to do that when sand is so cheap.
